Yellow House On Yale

Welcome! I’m so happy you’re here!

My name is Cynthia and I am an urban homesteader. I live in a 75 year old restored yellow farmhouse with my husband and sons in the Pacific Northwest.

I love gardening, homesteading, natural living and everything homemade. I am also big on home cooking and believe food is better when shared.

Here at Yellow House On Yale I hope to inspire you to grow your own food (even if it’s just salad greens), enjoy the garden, learn to live more sustainably and celebrate the small things.

As I noted above I’m an urban homesteader. We live on a “city lot” on the edge of farm country. Where the mountains meet the river and the city meets the country side. We grow about 75% of our own produce and herbal teas. We believe in supporting local, handmade and homemade.

Homesteading by definition is a lifestyle of self sufficiency through gardening, food preservation, DIY and homemaking. By this definition you could be an urban homesteader just about anywhere. You don’t need acreage to homestead. You can become more self sufficient right where you are.

Thank you for being here and I look forward to getting to know you better.

Cynthia
