Welcome To Yellow House On Yale

Welcome to Yellow House On Yale. We are so glad you are here on the urban homestead. Grab a sweet tea and here is a beginner’s guide to help you navigate all things Yellow House On Yale.
To start things off, here are a few things you should know about us: We are on a mission to inspire you to grow your own food (even if it’s just salad greens), enjoy the garden, learn to live more sustainably and celebrate the small things.
We share lots of gardening, urban homestead, natural living, DIY, recipes and frugal living tips here on the blog and on social media. In hopes to inspire you to live more sustainably. Stock your pantry with fresh produce. Preserve the bounty of the season and enjoy the simple life even if you live in the city.

My name is Cynthia and I am an urban homesteader. I live in a 75 year old restored yellow farmhouse with my husband and sons in the Pacific Northwest.
We live on a “city lot” on the edge of farm country and we grow about 75% of our own produce and herbal teas. We believe in supporting local, handmade and homemade.
Homesteading by definition is a lifestyle of self sufficiency through gardening, food preservation, DIY and homemaking. By this definition you could be an urban homesteader just about anywhere. You don’t need acreage to homestead. You can become more self sufficient right where you are.
Thank you for being here and I look forward to getting to know you better.
Cynthia
